NUI Galway Opens

The TaeKwon-Do Ireland Senior Tournament was taken by storm by Midleton's adult and teenage fighters. Making the long journey in force, three car loads of competitors drove up and down on the same day, bringing back more glory for the Midleton TaeKwon-Do Club.

After arriving and settling in, Midleton rushed off to a great start taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the intermediate patterns section, as well as taking 1st and 3rd in the male beginner patterns, and 2nd and 3rd in the female patterns. Arnaugh and Thomas taking gold in intermediate and beginner respectively. A true testament to each student's hard work and technical skill that everyone from Midleton club placed in traditional forms.

The sparring was an equal success, where Thomas took gold in the beginners sparring once again, and Arnaugh, only 15 and competing against adults, was narrowly beaten in the intermediate final after two rounds of split decisions.

The day came to an end then with a team event, where Midleton was able to field two teams, one reaching the semi finals and the other reaching the final. Both were beat  by the same team and for a moment it looked to be an all Midleton final!

Well done again to all our adult and teenage members, setting a great example for the up and coming juniors students.
